At Boots on the Ground (BOTG), we are dedicated to supporting First Responders across Ontario and beyond by providing compassionate, anonymous, and accessible mental health support. Our 2021-2026 StrategicPlan outlines our vision, mission, and priorities to build a stronger, more inclusive peer support system for those who serve.

To eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the First Responder community while positively impacting as many lives as possible.
Our Mission
To provide anonymous, confidential, compassionate, and caring peer support to all First Responders—frontline and civilian, retired or serving—anywhere in Ontario and beyond.
Our Strategic Priorities
1. Strengthen Organizational Capacity
We aim to build a sustainable, skilled, and engaged volunteer team that feels supported and valued. Key initiatives include:
- Enhanced volunteer training and onboarding.
- Comprehensive wellness programs, including regular debriefs and psychological support.
- Recognition programs to celebrate and retain our dedicated volunteers.
2. Expand Awareness and Reach
We are committed to increasing visibility and access to BOTG’s services:
- Launching media campaigns and partnerships with First Responder organizations.
- Establishing BOTG divisions across Canada.
- Building awareness in First Responder training and educational institutions.
3. Enhance Program Offerings
We will grow and innovate our services to meet the needs oft he First Responder community:
- Expanding peer support programs to include in-person and online options.
- Increasing the reach of our Therapy and PTSD Service Dog program, and Psychologist Assistance program.
- Developing new mental health initiatives in response to emerging challenges.
4. Ensure Financial Sustainability
Long-term financial health is crucial for our mission:
- Securing sustainable funding through grants, partnerships, and community fundraising.
- Establishing an investment strategy to support growth.
- Innovating fundraising approaches to adapt to changing social and economic landscapes.
5. Foster Excellence in Leadership and Governance
Strong leadership will guide our success:
- Creating a strategic planning committee to implement and monitor goals.
- Ensuring diversity and inclusion across leadership and decision-making.
- Regularly evaluating progress through measurable objectives and community feedback.
